Leading networking firm NetGear has announced it has added to its portfolio of impressive hardware, launching a new DSL modem that enables ultra-fast VDSL connections.
The new NetGear Broadband High-Speed DSL Modem (DM200) is to be aimed at users in the home and in small businesses, providing what the company claims to be a cost-effective way to upgrade existing equipment and support the fastest VDSL/VDSL2 Internet as well as legacy ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ connections.
Upgrading networks is one of the most important issues for many small businesses, many of which often set up their networks so that they are easier to upgrade at minimal cost later down the line, in order to keep up with the ever-changing nature of networking technology.
NetGear has often been at the forefront of the progress seen in networking technology and is subsequently one of the most recognisable names in the industry.
Internet service providers (ISPs) around the world are already upgrading their current ADSL infrastructure, which will have otherwise served their needs well, turning to VDSL in order to to meet increasing demand being placed on enterprise networks, particularly in light of increased internet speeds.
The high-speed DM200 ADSL/VDSL modem meets the relevant requirements and support for VDSL/VDSL2, while also offering backward compatibility to ADSL/ADSL2+.
It means that customers are now able to upgrade their modem to the brand's DM200 model, allowing them to benefit from the existing and future DSL Internet service tiers.
David Henry, senior vice president of home consumer products for NetGear, said: “We are pleased to offer our latest modem, the DM200, which is designed to deliver superior broadband xDSL performance.
“As the market demands new tools for connectivity, NETGEAR continues to drive technology leadership in delivering quality products to enable people and business to communicate and connect to information, data, and entertainment.”
While it enhances networking speeds, the DM200 is also easy to install and can be connected directly to a desktop PC, allowing it to provide ultra-fast wired DSL internet access or, alternatively, with a WiFi router, greater support for multiple devices within a network.
Such capabilities will undoubtedly appeal to small business owners, many of whom are seeing a flood of new pieces of hardware entering their networks, amid the rise of trends such as bring your own device (BYOD) and the internet of things (IoT).
