Cabling specialist Draka has announced the launch of the Tool Fast Keystone Jack and Tool Fast Installer Tool, which it claims will help to speed up the termination of Cat5e and Cat6 data cables.
Third-party approved, the new UC Connect Tool Fast Keystone Jack iscompatible with fully shielded foiled twisted pair cables (S/FTP) with diameters from 26 AWG to 23 AWG and is capable of slashing cable termination time by up to 40 per cent when used in conjunction with the unique UC Connect Tool Fast Installer Tool.
The Tool Fast Installer Tool includes a built-in length guide to help installers to strip the cable jacket back 55mm using its built-in jacket strippers to reveal the twisted pairs.
The wires can then be slotted into the Jack and the housing fitted together. The whole assembly is then placed in the UC Connect installer tool.
All it needs is one squeeze of the handle and the tool will cut and crimp the wire in a single action. Users can then simply snap the rear cover into place and secure using a cable tie.
Lee Stokes, product manager for UC Connect, said: “It takes less than 60 seconds to terminate shielded and unshielded Cat5e and Cat6 data cables in the Tool Fast Keystone Jack using Draka’s unique UC Connect installer tool, which will help speed the installation of Draka UC Connect data cables.”

Draka claims the new products are competitively priced, with the installer tool unique to Draka UC Connect.
Draka has also launched a new 19” Angled Unshielded Empty Patch Panel for Cat5e and Cat6 cables, the design of which enables easy patch lead management.
With its foldable interface, it also incorporates a cable management fitting at the rear and is available as a pre-terminated cabling solution under Draka’s UCPrecon brand.
