Not content with being top of the market for web-managed fixed configuration Ethernet switching, NetGear has gone one step further to strengthening its portfolio by launching the new ProSAFE 28-port 10-Gigabit Smart Managed Switch.
The powerful new product is the first in the industry to offer 28 ports and is purposely designed to benefit small to mid-sized organisations (SMBs), offering 10GBASE-T connectivity and Advanced L2+/Layer 3 Lite features.
NetGear adds that as well as providing 10-Gigabit bandwidth at an affordable cost, the new model is also backed by the industry-leading NETGEAR Lifetime Hardware Warranty and customer support coverage.
Strong reputation
The new release is only the latest in the company's already impressive portfolio, which includes a complete range of 10-Gigabit switch solutions, covering small server clusters to network aggregation, along with workgroup labs and network backbones
The company is currently the only name in the business to offer two models of Smart Managed 10GBASE-T switches, both of which offer different port density options.
A number of first-to-market 10GBASE-T Copper switches were launched under the NetGear brand in 2013, spearheaded by the existing ProSAFE 12-port 10-Gigabit Smart Switch (XS712T).
The firm has done little to hide the pride in its success, stating its portfolio combines advances in hardware and software engineering to ensure a better level of availability, lower latency and power consumption, as well as stronger security.
The main goal, according to NetGear, of this range of products is to offer a substantial boost to performance, eliminating bottlenecks and facilitate easier and smoother deployment of services.

Already proven to perform
NetGear claims its latest product aims to deal with the growing level of unpredictability in terms of the demands placed on corporate systems, brought about through the rising popularity of VoIP, video conference and IP surveillance.
The ProSAFE XS728T provides comprehensive L2+/Layer 3 Lite features that reportedly help make it easier to meet the current and future needs of customers.
It has already shown encouraging signs of progress in recent weeks, with John Paul Szkudlpaski, head of IT services for Birkenhead Sixth Form College in Claughton Village, Prenton, Wirral, U.K, stating: “The ProSAFE XS728T Gigabit Smart Managed Switch worked flawlessly in our test,
“It went straight in as a production switch and my users didn’t even know it was a beta switch. It ran our mission critical Hyper-V stack, in place of a fully managed switch.”
