There is always a buzz around the Mobile World Congress (MWC) and this year was no different, particularly among network cabling providers.
ZyXEL was one of the most prominent when it came to unveiling new products, using the event as the ideal platform to launch its new range of powerful LTE products, including the industry’s first LTE category 6 HomeSpot router that also supports 802.11ac.
The new Wi-Fi HomeSpot Router allows users to connect with a number of mobile broadband services all over the world, mainly due to its latest carrier aggregation technology, which is compatible with LTE, DC-HSPA+/ HSPA/ UMTS and EDGE/ GPRS/ GSM.
In fact, the LTE4506 is the only device in the mobile home router category with LTE category 6 compliance, while the addition of carrier aggregation technology allows for downlink data rates of up to 300Mbps – twice that of category 4.
Wayne Hwang, vice president of ZyXEL’s Service Provider SBU said: “An ideal companion for any family holiday or even small business users, the LTE 4506 delivers faster downloads and higher data rates from the 4G network.
"The device also enables service providers to deliver higher network capacity to customers and they can offer new apps and services that rely on higher data rates, such as mobile video streaming and gaming."
When combined with the latest 11ac Wi-Fi technology, the LTE4506 provides dual-band Wi-Fi services capable of supporting up to 32 simultaneous users without compromising on security.
Other items showcased at MWC included ZyXEL's TE 7410 outdoor 4G router, the LTE 7460 multi-mode router and the WAH7706 portable LTE router.
Mr Hwang said the release of this latest range was mainly due to an increase in "demand for 24/7 mobile broadband and multi-device connectivity".
"This will explode further as we see the introduction of more smart devices and the Internet of Things becomes a reality in 2016, with Statista estimating 4G subscriptions to reach 267 million by 2020," he added.
Finally, the company also used MWC as a platform to showcase its Small Cell solution and In-Building Coverage system, which it claims will help to alleviate the pressure on modern mobile operator networks by making it easier to integrate multiple users and scenarios.
